When designing overhead power lines in the Chukotka Autonomous Region, one of our customers faced difficulties in organizing grounding. Geological data indicated too high electrical resistivity of the soil - from 30,000 to 80,000 Ohm * m. This problem is not uncommon in permafrost soils, and the ZANDZ Technical Center specialists have a reliable and proven solution for it: installation of electrolytic grounding kits.
There are several ways to protect an airplane shed and the material values that are stored in it from lightning. The first (and often the simplest) way is to use metal roof as a natural lightning rod and perform descents to the grounding device. Alas, this option is unacceptable in cases where, for example, there is an insufficient electrical connection between the metal structures or the roof is made of non-metallic material. Then another protection option is applied: installation of artificial lightning rods on the roof. This method was used by the ZANDZ Technical Center in one of its recent projects. Organization of grounding at substations with a high voltage of 110 kV and more is more difficult than at any other facility. Upon the request of EIC 7th ed., Paragraph 1.7.90, uch electrical installations having a source with an efficiently or grounded neutral must be equipped with a grounding device with a resistance of up to 0.5 Ohms.
