When arranging a grounding device, there can be often a confusion - which grounding conductor: tape, wire or conductor to choose for PVC insulation.
First of all, let´s look at the terminology. So, a grounding conductor is a conductor connecting the grounded part (point) to the grounding rod system. I.e. one end of the grounding conductor is connected to the main ground bus, while the second end is connected to the grounding rod system. One end of the conductor should be equipped with a tip having a hole for a bolt, which will be used to connect it to MGB. Various methods (for example, with a clip) are used to connect it to the grounding rod system.
Of course, it´s easiest to install the tip with bolt hole on the conductor in PVC insulation. That is why it is more convenient to use it as a grounding conductor.
For instance, ZANDZ ZZ-500-103 grounding conductor with pre-installed tip for D8 bolt . Conductor cross-section of 25 mm2 is subject to the requirements of GOST R 50571.5.54-2011.
Grounding bar is often used for connecting grounding electrodes together. For instance, GALMAR GL-11075-10, which is made of rolled steel with 99.9% copper coating, electroplated. Such bar has a long service life of 30 years.
Grounding electrodes can also be connected with the help of copper-bonded wire. For instance, GALMAR GL-11149-10, made with the same technology of electroplating as GALMAR copper-bonded bar. Apart from the "connecting" role, the wire can play the role of a down conductor or air terminal mesh in the external lightning protection system.
The figure below shows a diagram of the grounding device without any external lightning protection connected to it.
