The qestion of the choice of lightning protection system still remains relevant. This is not surprising, because there are at least three regulatory documents regulating and giving guidance on the assembly of an external lightning protection system.
Which regulation to follow and how not to make a wrong choice? The new article by Professor E.M.Bazelyan "Lightning protection of residential and public buildings - will give answers to frequently asked questions in the design".
The article consists of six parts:

Having started with a comparison of the requirements for external lightning protection systems for industrial and residential buildings, the professor goes directly to the choice of such a system taking into account statistical data on the frequency and density of lightning strikes. Then he tells about the induced overvoltage - the most dangerous phenomenon for buildings, powered through an air line of conventional execution with bare wires. The question of the roofing type and material is crucial, and the fourth part of the article is dedicated to it. The fifth and the fourth parts give an answer about the difference of systems, based on lightning protection mesh and rod lightning rods.
