As any other objects, buildings and railway infrastructure facilities may be exposed to direct lightning strikes and pulse pick ups. Such negative effects may not only lead to local mechanical damages, but the failure of the whole railway spurs. Losses of the railway companies can reach tens of millions of rubles. Given that the railway is a place of high concentration of people, electrical safety at such facilities must be at the highest level.
