Engineers from the ZANDZ.com Technical Center have published a new article on the lightning protection of the rotating equipment at power plants, such as generators and motors. The article includes reasons describing why thunderstorm discharges are dangerous for this equipment, and the solutions are provided, which are capable of improving their reliability and extending their service lives.
The article also contains calculation examples, the list of required materials and the layout of the lightning protection and grounding elements for the hydroelectric power plant.
