ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY WITH LIGHTNING - A SERIES OF WEBINARS ON THE BOOK OF PROFESSOR E.M. BAZELYANA

At the webinars, you will learn about the nature of the dangerous electromagnetic effects of lightning and the possibility of limiting them with traditional lightning protection methods, what you need to calculate to solve the problem of electromagnetic compatibility, and also when and which SPDs to install.

The ZANDZ project continues the cycle of training activities.

Several new webinars have been prepared on the basis of a new book by the professor of technical sciences, professor of the Energy Institute named after G.M. Krzhizhanovsky, E. M. Bazelyan "Electromagnetic compatibility with lightning". This book is very relevant today due to the massive use of smart-systems in various fields of modern technology. All of them are united by the presence of a single control unit, which, collecting information from numerous sensors and comparing it with the previously received, automatically generates the next control command. The control unit must be reliably protected from electromagnetic influences. The organization of the reserve does not save here, because the reserve must be hot, otherwise the background for control commands issuing won't be available for it. The electromagnetic field of lightning, damaging the main unit, in this situation will also disable the backup devices. You can’t get along without protection here.

On the pages of the publication, the author showed the nature of electromagnetic effects of lightning, avoiding the analytical design difficulties typical of EMC monographs. Having become acquainted with the contents of the book, the engineer must understand that the problem of EMC with lightning is an integral element of traditional lightning protection. Rationally approaching the choice of lightning rods, their down conductors and grounding devices, it is possible to partially, and sometimes completely eliminate the use of special tools (SPD) to limit pulse pickups, which are generally quite expensive and not always reliable.

The attitude to SPD in the book is similar to the attitude of a competent doctor to potent drugs - there is no need to rush with them, it is better to first try something that will probably harm the patient less.

We arrange an online meeting with the author for everyone, during which Eduard Meerovich will reveal the main topics of his book and answer questions from the audience about electromagnetic compatibility with lightning. The event will be organized as a series of webinars. We invite you to meet professor. At the moment, 3 webinars are planned for studying the contents of the book.

July 4 at 11:00 (Moscow time) we will hold a webinar "Electromagnetic compatibility with lightning. Setting tasks and main problems”.

At the webinar, you will learn about the nature of the dangerous electromagnetic effects of lightning and the possibility of limiting them with traditional lightning protection methods with a quantitative assessment of the effectiveness and technical capabilities of each.

Cost: free, registration required.

On August 8, at 11:00 (Moscow time) we will hold a webinar “What should be calculated to solve the problem of electromagnetic compatibility with lightning electricity”.

The second webinar will set a task about a specific story about engineering methods for evaluating the parameters necessary to determine the practical danger of electromagnetic influences. This issue has already been partially addressed in our webinars. Now we will talk about the simplest but most reliable calculation techniques.

Cost: free, registration required.

September 5 at 11:00 (Moscow time) we will hold a webinar "Electromagnetic compatibility with lightning. When and which SPDs to install?”.

The third webinar will deal directly with SPD. It is important to know when their use is justified and how to approach the choice of SPD for a particular electrical circuit. Particular attention will be paid to issues that elude of the SPD manufacturers, but are very important for practical application.

Cost: free, registration required.
