В The ZANDZ Technical Center received a request to calculate such a grounding with a resistance of not more than 0.5 ohms. Let's consider what solution our experts offered.
Initial data:
- soil type - loam, sandy loam
- 2 platforms with the dimensions of 15x20 m are available.
Specific resistance of the soil used for calculations – 100 Ohm * m.
Task:
It is necessary to calculate grounding device with the resistance of not more than 0,5 Ohm..
Solution:
Installation of a grounding device, consisting of 191 vertical electrodes with a length of 1.5 m each, connected by a copper-bonded tape with the cross section of 30x4 mm in the form of a grounding mesh with a pitch of 1.5 m. Burial depth 0.5 - 0.7 meters.
The rated resistance of the grounding device is 0.49 Ohms, which is less than the required value of 0.5 Ohms.
The design of the grounding device is shown in Figure 1.
