A few years ago, we posted on our website calculators that could perform genuinely unique computations. Today, many designers use these calculators on a regular basis. The data acquired is used to develop new lightning protection projects. The calculators were created in collaboration with Eduard Meerovich Bazelyan, Professor at the G. M. Krzhizhanovsky Energy Institute.
Calculator "Earhing resistance calculation"
The calculator determines the lightning current in the object's utilities when lightning strikes the feeding air power line or directly into the building itself. Calculation results allow determining the current going to the facility grounding electrode as well as to the feeder cable from the power line. The ground current pulse in the calculation is provided with an accuracy up to thousandth fractions of a microsecond.
Moreover, the application allows analyzing the impact of the grounding resistance to the characteristics of the ground current pulse. The obtained data allow correcting, if required, calculated grounding resistance values and obtain initial data to choose SDPs to provide complete protection of the facility.
A video tutorial for using the calculator is available here.
Calculator "Closed circuit electromotive force calculation"
The calculator computes the EMF of electromagnetic induction and the closed circuit current caused by lightning current traveling through a conductor. A practical case modelled by the software can include the calculation of induced electromotive force and currents in grounding circuits, both external and internal, from the lightning current flowing along the nearby current collector.
Here is a link to a video of the training webinar.
Both calculators are available to registered users and completely free
