The author of this article has been specialized in the lightning protection for more than half a century and has been trying to battle against the wonder lightning arresters for many years that, in violation of all physical laws, supposedly should actively attract a very distant lightning channel. Until quite recently, he has not even heard of the CTS lightning arresters. A young co-author introduced him to such arresters while working on another article on the useless active lightning arresters. The advertising material that has been read would surprise any specialist in atmospheric electricity and lightning protection. Having read some popular articles on the Internet, even the laziest amateur inventor has learned the principles of atmospheric exposure onto the electric field in the vicinity of the protected structure. For this purpose, a sufficiently high voltage with the required polarity must be applied to the facility or to the lightning arrester, or its corona discharge must be used that will introduce a space charge cloud into the atmosphere capable of screening a thunder field. There was nothing of the kind in the CTS lightning arresters.
